About[]

Torquay is the main station serving Torquay, Devon (the other being Torre). It is located on Preston Sands, a fair way from the town centre.

Layout[]

Torquay has 2 platforms linked by footbridge. Step free access is via a nearby road bridge; passengers should leave extra time.

The main entrance is off the station forecourt on Rathmore Road. When closed, a night entrance is available next to the station buildings. Upon entering the concourse, the ticket office is to the right and access to the platforms straight ahead. Passengers enter via Platform 1, and the footbridge to Platform 2 is to the left.

A second entrance is available on Platform 2 from Solsbro Road; a self service ticket machine is provided here.

Facilities.[]

Toilets are available on Platform 1, beneath the footbridge.

An independent cafe operates on Platform 1.

There is car parking on the station forecourt, along with a taxi rank, and more parking behind Platform 2.

If travelling on a GWR high speed service, First Class coaches K and L will stop at the uncovered ends of the platforms furthest from the bridge. Unreserved coaches E and F will be towards the end of the station buildings furthest from the bridge.

Crosscountry services depend on the formation of the train.

Bus Connections and PlusBus[]

Bus stops are located on Torbay Road. Leave the station and turn right, heading towards the beach, the stops are by the traffic lights.
